Sugarmums - I am making a difference and so can you

Firstly my apologies that I didn't post a blog last night.  My 4 year old son was struck down with gastro so I was nursing him.  Hopefully it has by passed my 18 month old son and myself.  My eldest is improving which is fantastic...he missed his first day and kindergarten and as a courtesy to his fellow kinder class mates and teachers, he'll miss tomorrow as well.  But he'll start on Monday...

Being a Sugarmum means more than just having my own business from home, being a business builder.  It is also an opportunity to join an amazing group of wonderful people...I am a social entrepreneur.  I hear you ask, what is a social entrepreneur?  Before I became a Sugarmum, I thought it was a made up word, a professional that someone "created" for themselves in order to give themselves a higher profile in front of their friends, family and peers.  What I didn't know what that it is a real term and I didn't know exactly how wonderful these people are.

So what exactly is a social entrepreneur?  Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society's most pressing problems.
 
Let me explain further so that you can see exactly why we need more social entrepreneurs and why we need YOU!

Sugarmums - the opportunity I had been waiting for

Hello everyone.  Firstly I would like to say that I am so happy that all the residents in the affected areas of North Queensland are safe.  Condolences to the family of the young man who, at this time, is the only fatality.  My heart goes out to you all.  I have family in Ayr and Brandon, so it was a scary time for us here in Melbourne as well.  I hope that the recovery period is a speedy one and that your lives get back to some level of normality soon.

Sugarmums - Making it count

Hi everyone.  Firstly I'd like to invite you to my first post.  This is the first time that I have partaken in a blog and I'm very excited.  I am excited because I have such a wonderful opportunity that I just have to tell you about.  It's an opportunity that I never thought I would find. 

As my profile says, my eldest son, who is 4, literally begged me not to go back to work.  I went back to work when he was 9 months old and I can tell you it was the worst decision I have made.  That first day, even though I left him with my parents, it torn my heart out to say goodbye and drive away.  I cried all the way to work.  I resigned from that job after my second son was born and that's when the dynamics changed.

I couldn't leave them again.  I couldn't look into my boys' little faces and tell them that I was leaving them to go to work.  The pained look on their faces, the guilt I would feel.  I had to find something that I could do from home.  Something that would leave us debt free, but was also recession free.  Something that I would enjoy.  Something that I could believe in, take into my heart and live it.  But where would I find something so special?
