Sugarmums - I am making a difference and so can you

Good evening everyone,


Firstly my apologies that I didn't post a blog last night.  My 4 year old son was struck down with gastro so I was nursing him.  Hopefully it has by passed my 18 month old son and myself.  My eldest is improving which is fantastic...he missed his first day and kindergarten and as a courtesy to his fellow kinder class mates and teachers, he'll miss tomorrow as well.  But he'll start on Monday...

Being a Sugarmum means more than just having my own business from home, being a business builder.  It is also an opportunity to join an amazing group of wonderful people...I am a social entrepreneur.  I hear you ask, what is a social entrepreneur?  Before I became a Sugarmum, I thought it was a made up word, a professional that someone "created" for themselves in order to give themselves a higher profile in front of their friends, family and peers.  What I didn't know what that it is a real term and I didn't know exactly how wonderful these people are.

So what exactly is a social entrepreneur?  Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society's most pressing problems.

Sugarmums - Making it count

Hi everyone.  Firstly I'd like to invite you to my first post.  This is the first time that I have partaken in a blog and I'm very excited.  I am excited because I have such a wonderful opportunity that I just have to tell you about.  It's an opportunity that I never thought I would find. 

As my profile says, my eldest son, who is 4, literally begged me not to go back to work.  I went back to work when he was 9 months old and I can tell you it was the worst decision I have made.  That first day, even though I left him with my parents, it torn my heart out to say goodbye and drive away.  I cried all the way to work.  I resigned from that job after my second son was born and that's when the dynamics changed.

I couldn't leave them again.  I couldn't look into my boys' little faces and tell them that I was leaving them to go to work.  The pained look on their faces, the guilt I would feel.  I had to find something that I could do from home.  Something that would leave us debt free, but was also recession free.  Something that I would enjoy.  Something that I could believe in, take into my heart and live it.  But where would I find something so special?
